The Common Committee meeting of the Eurocorps, which took place in Berlin on the 1st December 2011, has endorsed the Polish application as the Eurocorps 6th Framework Nation.

On 1. December 2011, the Inspecteur General of the Bundeswehr, General Volker Wieker, headed the annual meeting of the Common Committee of the Eurocorps. The Chiefs of Defense as well as the political directors of the Foreign Ministries, or their representatives, of the 5 Framework Nations (Belgium, Germany, France, Luxemburg and Spain) took part in this utmost steering committee. They welcomed Lieutenant-General Olivier de Bavinchove, the Commanding General of the Eurocorps and currently deployed as the ISAF Chief of Staff.
The substantial focus of the meeting were the ISAF-mission in Afghanistan, where the Eurocorps will deploy from January 2012 to January 2013, the possible evolution as a Joint Task Force and the accession talks with Poland as a new Framework Nation.
Founded in 1992 by Germany and France, rapidly joined by Belgium, Spain and Luxembourg as Framework Nations, the Eurocorps is also comprised of 4 Associated Nations: Greece, Italy, Poland and Turkey.
Answering a Polish request, the Common Committee co-signed a political invitation to Poland in order to become the sixth Framework Nation as from 2016. Thus, the current Framework Nations acknowledged the earlier Polish contributions to the Eurocorps. Furthermore, this coming accession underlines the attractiveness of the Eurocorps to the European nations.
