12-13.04. Chief of General Staff General Mieczysław Cieniuch paid an official visit to Switzerland, at the invitation of the Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General André Blattmann.

During talks among other things matters connected with prospects for bilateral cooperation between the armed forces of both countries, especially in the sphere of training as well as security situation in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed.
Polish delegation presented its ideas on international initiatives on developing capabilities Smart Defence (NATO) and Pooling and Sharing (the EU), shared experiences from the process of modernization and transformation of the Polish Armed Forces and outlined expectations connected with the NATO summit in Chicago.
Next, General Mieczysław Cieniuch laid a wreath at the Polish Cemetery in Bremgarten.
During a visit in the recruitment centre of the Swiss Armed Forces in Sumiswald Polish delegation was acquainted with tasks of the Joint Staff of Swiss Armed Forces, staff recruitment rules and functioning of the centre.
On the second day of the visit in Switzerland (April 13) the chief of General Staff visited the Emmen Air Base and Alpine Training Centre in Andermatt where he had an opportunity to observe the training.

The most recent bilateral visit at the level of chiefs of staff took place in November 2010 in Poland.
